Pack Prints

Arkansas State University

Introduction

In Composition I and II, you will write multimodally: You will be expected to compose not just in words but also in pictures, audio, video, websites, social media, and so on. These projects ask you to consider the rhetorical effects of all of the choices you make in presenting an argument, asking questions like, “How does typography and layout change your message?” and “Which audiences respond better to which media?”

The guides on this site help you consider some of the issues that make multimodal composition different: The website and weblog design guide, poster design guide, and video design guide aim to walk you through planning, preparing, and presenting your projects in those forms.

For those of you in Composition I, the portfolio guidelines offer a checklist for you to follow as you prepare your end-of-semester portfolio. Your instructor may make adjustments or modifications to this guide for your course specifically, but these are the elements that the program assessment committee will be looking for when evaluating portfolios.

Finally, this site also offers the same style guide content that is available in Pack Prints, but available here so that it is in searchable form. You can use Control (or Command, if you’re on a Mac) + F to search for things such as, “How do I cite a website without an author in APA?”
